Workshop Description
In this intensive 3-day workshop, students will learn how to create a mosaic backsplash, make a tabletop or choose to develop their own project working in the indirect method. The numerous benefits of working indirectly will be fully presented. The class begins with a brief historical overview of mosaic and a discussion on the various methods of constructing a mosaic, materials, tools and substrates. Learn about color and the mosaic palette, how tile shape creates visual texture, the way laying patterns (opus) affect overall mosaic design, and much more. Come with an idea of what you would like to portray, be it realistic, abstract, or decorative, or find inspiration from one of the artist’s mosaic source books. This workshop is ideal for those who have some experience in mosaics OR are willing to jump right in on an ambitious first project. Questions? The artist encourages students to contact her in advance to discuss intended projects, cindy@BIGBANGMOSAICS.com. Minimum 8 students
