Workshop Description
n this 3-day intensive workshop, St. Louis artist Sue Giannotti will teach participants how to use basic art concepts to maximize the impact of their mosaic work. Through hands-on exercises, demonstrations and lecture, participants will learn value, color and andamento, fundamental design elements and principles (e.g., focal point, repetition), material selection/planning and how to better preplan. While ideal for representational work, the concepts apply to all types of mosaics. Even if you think you cannot draw, this workshop will teach techniques to improve the flow of your work.
Designed for those with little or no formal art education, participants can range from beginners to advanced mosaicists. Class size is limited to 5 students. Prework is required; the instructor will contact registered participants with details. No mosaic will be made during the course, rather the students will leave with ample handouts, supplies and examples from in-class demonstrations and hands-on exercises. If you’d like to learn how to incorporating design fundamentals and preparation can increase your satisfaction of the end result, this class is for you. $350
